Stomach ulcers
Cranberries have demonstrated some emerging health benefits which have not yet been fully proven.
Cranberries may also help in preventing bacteria from sticking to our stomach walls, including Helicobacter pylori bacterium - the bacteria responsible for gastrointestinal diseases like gastric, duodenal and peptide ulcers.
Emerging studies have shown that the PACs in 250ml of cranberry juice cocktail containing 25% cranberry juice, or equivalent, can prevent these bacteria from attaching to host cells, thereby preventing their growth and ulcer formation. What this means is the bacteria becomes ineffective in its aims of infection, thereby providing potential protection against ulcers.¹ Stomach ulcers are the leading cause of stomach cancer.
